Curriculum:
The curriculum of the school will be unique for each group of children. It will be determined with specific needs of the group in order to meet each child’s individual developmental needs at hand. There will be learning experiences in art, music, numbers, language, nature, science, dramatic play and social studies, as well as a balance of quiet and active play, individual and group learning and directed and free choice of activity. Featured are many first-hand experiences in nature and science, food preparation and community exploration. Similar to many area elementary schools, the four-year-old classes use the Zoophonics curriculum, learning both upper and lower case letters and the coinciding sound(s) each letter makes. The 4yr old classes also take 6-7 field trips throughout the year visiting places like the Mount Pleasant Discovery Museum, Mini City, The Jump Station and Morey Courts to name a few. We also welcome and invite guest speakers into the classroom, including an officer from the Mt. Pleasant Police Department. A monthly calendar is sent home for parents to view which includes assigned snack days, important events and tuition reminders. Each calendar also has a weekly theme listed as well as the letter(s), color(s) and shape(s) the students will be focusing on for that month. Mrs. Rudoni creates the lesson plans around the weekly theme and is very creative in the educational endeavors. The students love each theme and the excitement of learning something new each week. |
